Are you planning to clean your dirty shower curtains but don’t know how to do it? During shower dirty curtains develops a dull feeling in you and also makes your bathroom look dirty and untidy. As your bathtub is lined by the curtains so due to moisture and soap foam they tend to develop molds easily.
Many a time’s cleaning or washing shower curtains is not an easy task. You prefer to spray the shower cleanser and just let the water run over it. Removing the curtains and the liners seems to be a heavy work.
If you desire a fresh and clean look of your bathroom you need to wash the curtains at least twice in a month. To make your job simpler here are some tips.
- Vinegar, Bleach, and Baking Soda: If your shower curtains are of vinyl or plastic material then you can try washing them with a cup of bleach and a cup of vinegar. But before using these chemicals ensure that you can use them to wash your curtains.
- Don’t use hot water as it may melt your material. After washing them with the mixture of bleach and vinegar you can wash them along with your white towels and detergent. This would give them a pleasant and fresh smell.
- After washing don’t put them in the dyer. Instead you can hang them as usual and let them dry.
- In case your shower curtains are of fabric material then instead of bleach and vinegar, use a cup of baking soda. You can wash your fabric curtains in hot water as it would remove the molds and mildew from it.
- In order to avoid mold growth soak the fabric curtains in salt water. Remember to use only small quantity of salt otherwise it may form crystals on your curtain.
- Cleaning Shower Curtain Liners: Depending upon the material of the shower liner you can also wash them in the similar fashion. But first ensure that the curtain liner can be washed in the washing machine.
- You can make it mold free by spraying a mold resistant cleaner. Make it a point to clean the liner at least once in a week.
- Easy-to-Remove Shower Curtain Liners: You can easily find easy-to-remove liners in the market. Without removing the rings you just need to zip it off and on for removing or hanging it. In this way you can save your energy as well as time also. For kids bathroom this is the best thing.
After completing this tedious task your bathroom would regain its fresh and clean look. Remember before hanging your curtains again clean the rods thoroughly.
