Make Your Own Bath Salts

Bath salts are inorganic usually inorganic solid products which serve as an ingredient to a bath, to improve cleaning or provide medical improvement, to improve the experience of bathing, or to serve as a vehicle for cosmetic agents. Bath salts have been developed which mimic the properties of natural mineral baths or hot springs.

Bath salts change the osmotic balance of water so that the skin absorbs less water via osmosis. This reduces the “pruning” or “wrinkling” effect of prolonged exposure of skin to fresh water.

Recipe for bath salts

  • Take two cups of Epsom salt, dead sea salt, borax, calgon or baking soda.
  • Add as flavours or for fragrance, 10-12 drops of lavender, eucalyptus, lemon grass or rose water. Cinnamon and mint are also good ideas.
  • Add glycerine for that extra moisture.
  • Avoid table salt as they dry the skin.
  • Warm the water and wait for the salts to absorb.
  • As a bonus to your body pamper, you could use essential oils like olive oil or lavender.
  • You could opt for fragrances if you wish. Kitchen fragrances like vanilla, orange or lemon extracts.
  • Have a rejuvenating bath with your own hand-made bath salts.
